A Young Woman Hopes to Walk Again.

This site was originally built in the hopes to raise fund for Jordanne's medical and travel expenses after she became quadriplegic upon catastrophic injury in a car accident. She and her family have travelled to Costa Rica to receive stem cell treatments at the Institute of Cellular Medicine. This procedure was not covered by insurance. And she still needs a lot of physical therapy to help get the stem cells to start regenerating nerve cells where she needs it in order for her to move her body again. This site is maintained and updated to share the report on her progress through the stem cell therapy and continued physical therapy. Please join in on Jord's Adventure!

Going to Costa Rica for stem cell therapy

Jordanne's father, Steve, searched in vain to locate U.S. clinics providing stem cell replacement therapy. He eventually found the Institute of Cellular Medicine in Costa Rica who accepted Jordanne as a candidate to receive the stem cell therapy. (Other countries providing the therapy include India, China and Korea.)

In January of 2008, the Menzies family traveled to Costa Rica for a week so that Jordanne could receive the treatment. Now she is back home in Colorado and is trying to find physical therapists to help her get moving again.

"Therapy is going well. My core muscles are continuing to get stronger. The other day I moved both arms across the table using my pectoral muscles. I am able to sit unsupported with no problems, so now we are working on me sitting unsupported straight instead of me being hunched over. This is going well, I tend to get dizzy because my body is not used to sitting properly anymore. It is going faster than I expected. Therapy has backed to 2 days a week instead of 4 due to insurance. Hopefully it will pick back up in Feb.
